Bandages
Both
TWO-WAY Stretch bandages (KomprimED) and ONE-WAY Stretch bandages
(ToeBAND, FingerBAND, HandBAND and KompriBAND) should be washed
and cared for according to the following instructions. It is very
important that you follow the recommended instructions below for
their care and washing.
Both
types of bandages must be washed in warm to hot water, with regular
detergent. It is highly recomended that you wash them in an automatic
home washing machine. Recommended detergents are liquid detergents
such as CHEER FREE or ALL FREE because these are dye-free, and perfume-free,
and therefore may reduce patient allergy reactions due to the detergent.
However, other household detergents for automatic washing may be
adequate. It is recommended that you include them with the regular
household laundry (light colors). For the smaller bandages, such
as FingerBAND, it is recommended that you place them in a lingerie
bag prior to washing.
In
order for them to "bounce back" after they have been worn,
you must wash them as stated above, AND you must put them in an
automatic clothes dryer with regular laundry in medium heat. It
is important to follow these instructions in order to obtain their
maximum benefit. Machine wash and dry them frequently; if possible,
launder them daily. This will further enhance good health for the
skin.
NOTE:
While you may be accustomed to wash other brands of lymphedema products
in a different manner because and gloves must be washed as instructed
above, in order to obtain maximum performance and effectiveness
from their application.
Gloves
KT
Medical gloves should be washed AND dried according to the same
directions above, with ONE EXCEPTION:
For the
POCKET Gloves, the pressure pack, which contains 100% natural buckwheat
hulls, must be removed prior to washing, and should not be washed
at all. After the glove has been dried in an automatic drier, re-insert
the pressure pack into the pocket. ALWAYS USE A BLUNT-END OBJECT
SUCH AS A TONGUE DEPRESSOR, FOR RE-INSERTING THE PRESSURE PACK INTO
THE POCKET.
The gloves
should be laundered frequently in automatic washers, inwarm temperatures,
with ordinary household detergent, and with regular laundry (light
colors!). machine dry in warm temperatures.
Pressure
Packs
The pressure
packs contain 100% buckwheat hulls. This is a natural material and
they should not be washed.. Always apply the pressure packs with
a skin barrier first, such as a layer of stockinette, or other protective
fabric, and / or one layer of bandage. If using the POCKET Glove,
re-insert the pressure pack as stated above.
